Hornet Fan News for the week of 1/23/2006:

·       Congratulations to senior Alex Hesson!  She will be attending Wilmington College next year, and she signed to play soccer for the school.  Alex was a 4-year starting forward, 3-time All District selection, 4-time All MML selection & was the MML Player of the Year.  Craig and Kathi are her parents.

·       The Boys basketball team beat West Carrollton 60-58 with a buzzer basket from Jared Ferguson, but lost to Franklin 80-68. 

·       The Girls basketball team beat Stivers 46-31 but lost to Talawanda 40-52.  They will face Twin Valley South in the DIII Wilmington Sectional. 

·       In Skip Weaver's MML Insider column this week, he mentions Monroe several times:

1.      MML Girls' top sleeper teams:  "Monroe has the best shot at pulling off a couple of upsets.  The Hornets (8-4) should defeat Twin Valley South in the first round and could knock off second-seeded Waynesville in the second round.  Waynesville barely defeated Monroe (49-45) earlier this season.  If the Hornets do that, they would likely face Fenwick in the sectional finals, a team they will face twice between now and then.  The Hornets have yet to play Talawanda or Fenwick so those late-season matchups should provide plenty of action."

2.      League's best boys' players:  "Fans should look no further than Monroe sophomore Tyler Osterman to start the list.  He's averaging 26.6 points per game, tops in the MML.  He also broke a 32 year old school record for points scored in a single game."

3.      The Ohio North-South Football Classic will be held June 17, and Jason Krause will be one of 5 assistant coaches for the South team while Tad Kilburn will be the team's kicker/punter.
