The Monroe Garden Club held the February meeting at the Monroe Lending Library. The program for the evening was “Getting to Know Your Local Library”.
Peggy Hesson conducted the business meeting and introduced Jamina Szopinska as a guest.
The following announcements were made: The OAGC Region 4 will host an all day meet on April 28, 2006 at the Cincinnati Nature Center, a class on Creative Traditional Design is scheduled for March 8th, the Cincinnati Flower Show will be April 22-30 at Coney Island and the OAGC will sponsor a flower show at the Eastgate Mall on July 14-16.
Tree seedlings have been purchased for Arbor Day distribution to Monroe Elementary 3rd grade students. The club has been distributing trees to students since it was founded 45 years ago.
As part of their Civic Beautification program, the club will purchase two dwarf Alberta spruce trees for the planters at the City Building.
The Spring Into Summer programs for the club are: March 21 Video presentation of Mary Higgins garden, April 18 “Arrangements Using Water as a Focus” with Roger Conner, owner “Flowers by Roger”, Middletown, May 16 “Cacti and Other Prickly Suspects”, Caroline Crosswell, Fleurs Garden Club, Oxford and June 20, “Roses” presented by Cheri Berns, Berns Garden Center.
Meetings take place on the 3rd Tuesday of each month at 7:00pm in the James Monroe Community Room. Visitors are always welcome.
