One of the most respected and prosperous coaches of Hornet football passed away from a series of heart attacks Sunday night and Monday morning. 75-year-old Eugene Rice, of Gloucester Ohio, was one of Monroe‘s most successful football coaches throughout his 15 years. Taking over in 1965, Rice resigned in 1979 with an outstanding record of 98 wins, 48 losses and four ties. This included two undefeated seasons and 5 league titles.
