¡¤ Sports highlights from the week:
1. The Girls softball team advanced to the sectional finals by beating Dayton Christian 13-1. Jordan Eastham threw a 1-hit complete game win, earning her 13th win of the season. Eastham didn't allow an earned run and fanned 8 Warriors batters. The team will play Madison tonight @ 5:00 in Springboro. They won the MML South league as well - congratulations! They are now 18-4 overall and 10-2 in the league. And, KUDOS to the JV squad who ended the season with a perfect record: 18-0!
2. The Baseball team will also play tonight @ 5:00 for the sectional championship! The team defeated Preble Shawnee 13-3 Monday allowing them to advance to the finals. They will play #1 seed Carlisle (16-7) at Springboro High School. And, KUDOS to the JV squad who ended the season 2nd in the MML with a record of 14-3!
3. The first day of the MML Track & Field Championship meet was held Tuesday at Monroe. Finals will start @ 4:30 tonight at Monroe.
¡¤ Jordan Eastham, softball pitcher, made the front page of the sports section of the Journal last Saturday. The junior pitched a no-hitter against Stebbins. Through 65 ¨÷ innings, she has 65 strikeouts and area-low 0.96 ERA. Congrats to Jordan!
¡¤ A special thanks to the coaches and parents of the boys' Monroe Swarm 10U baseball team. Coach Ed Beck, Coach Dave Cable and the team parents offered to prepare the softball diamond last weekend so the high school Girls Softball team could have home-field advantage when they played their tournament game Tuesday evening.
