Hornet Sports News for the week of 5/22/2006:
· The Girls softball team won the Division III district crown last week! They beat Deer Park 3-0 and now post a 20-4 season. Jordan Eastham was the winning pitcher. Tamara Davis went 4-4, scored 2 runs and stole 4 bases. Laura Cain made the key play for the Hornets in the 4th inning. She fielded a sharp grounder and made a double play to stop the Cats from scoring. The girls will play Metamora Evergreen (22-8) tonight @ 5:00 at Wright State University. The winner advances to the Regional finals and one win away from the state semifinals. · The Boys track team placed 8th at the Division II District Championships, and the girls placed 14th. Those qualifying for this week's regional event at Welcome Stadium are:
a. Braden McMonigle FIRST High jump 6'0"
b. Josh Herron 3rd Long jump 20'4 ¼ "
c. David Miller 4th 3,200 meter race
d. Shae Michael, Matt Cantrell 4th 400 Relay

· The Booster Club meets tonight @ 7:00 in the Media Center. Officers will be elected.

The mission of the Monroe Athletic Booster Club (MABC) is to facilitate and promote the activities of the Monroe High School's sports programs. MABC will work with the coaches and administration to support the athletic program by providing funding, boosting attendance, building morale and providing an enjoyable healthy environment for the student athletes. MABC will be responsible for raising funds required to meet the club's objectives.
