Monroe, with a current population of 11,226, grew by 7.9% during the past year and by 57.2% over the past decade. City manager William Brock attributes Monroe's growth with lots of land, affordable homes, good schools and a good location.
Monroe Schools enrollment has grown 63.2% since it's inception in 2001, now supporting over 2,200 students. Elementary school enrollment has grown 81.7%, from 618 to 1,123.
In addition to Monroe, growth on varying degrees was also seen in Trenton, Franklin, Carlisle, Springboro, Mason, and Lebanon over the decade. Middletown was the only Butler County city to show a population decline.
