Dayton is ranked 14th in the nation among cities losing the most population, with a loss of over 2500 residents since 2005. Populations in surrounding cities such as Middletown and Springfield have also been declining. Cleveland ranked 6th on the list of fastest declining populations in the nation, with Toledo coming in at 9th.
