A Fourth of July Celebration will held in Monroe with a parade beginning at 5:00 pm. If you are in the parade and have not received the lineup, please email wassona@monroeohio.org. The parade route will begin at Kroger and travel down Macready Avenue to Elm Street to South Main Street and ending at the park. The parade will honor the following military personnel: Adam Enz, Ronald Webb, John Hackman, and Connie Birdwell as Grand Marshals.
Following the parade the Mayor will welcome everyone and Kara Cover will sing the National Anthem.
Events being held at the park include, but are not limited to, the following:
Little Mr. and Miss Red, White & Boom contest
Best Decorated Bike Contest
Homemade Apple Pie Contest
Water Balloon Toss
Watermelon Seed Spitting Contest
Cornhole
Demonstration of the Critical Response Team
Bands will be Dr. Phink, Johnny B and the Grave Diggers, and the Cleavers
Historical Society will have their log cabin open and selling their replicas
The Monroe Pool will hold an Open to the Public Day. The rates will be ages 0-2 free, 3-11 $3.00 and 12 and up $5.00. They are also planning to have a cook out.
There will be a raffle for a chair donated by Rileys Furniture.
The food venders in the park will be The Red Onion, Buffalo Wings & Rings, Victory Lane, Gilbys and the Yardbirds. There will be craft booths located in the park as well.
A fireworks show will end this exciting event.
