Firefighters of the Monroe Fire Department agreed to a new 3 year contract with the city. The new contract takes the current 10 step pay raise done to 5 steps. The increases were set to happen on the anniversary date of first hire, but now has been changed to the first of each calandar year. A 4 percent pay increase will be store for firefighters at the second and thrid years of the agreement.
The first year of the agreement will bring beginning firefighters an amount of $27,831, and firefighters at the hihgest end of the step $40,748. Firefighters and lieutenants are covered in the agreement, but the postions of chief, assistant chief and captain, as well as the department secretary and part-time firefighters were not. |
