| The Nova Girl Scout Service Unit, which includes troops in Middletown and Monroe, recently raised enough money to purchase bullet proof vests for the police dogs in Middletown and Monroe. All the troops in the area participated by donating money from their cookie and calendar sales, holding bake sales, etc. These vests were presented to the dogs at the Leader/Daughter dinner on April 9 at Armco Park Pavilion Building. Chief Howard and the two K-9 officers and their dogs were present along with the two K-9 officers from Middletown and their dogs. The officers put on a demonstration of the things the dogs are trained to do for the leaders and their daughters. The idea for this project came from two of the girls from Middletown. They initiated the project after seeing a program describing how the dogs do not have vests when the officers do. |
