Donald Whitman, City Manager, has contacted the US Chamber of Commerce to explore the option of starting a Chamber of Commerce for Monroe exclusively.
Currently, Monroe has a Business Council that is a division of the Mid Miami Valley Chamber of Commerce (MMV). Recently the MMV has come under fire for taking the position that the Middletown Regional Hospital remain in Middletown. Members of the Monroe Business Council felt that they were not being fairly represented since the MMV represents Middletown AND Monroe, as well as Trenton.
The Office of Chamber of Commerce Relations has sent guidelines for the purpose/structure and objectives regarding for the purpose of setting up a new Chamber of commerce. Each Monroe Business Council member present at the meeting received a copy of the guidelines. |
