Rep. John Boehner together with officials from the City of Monroe and
Rockies Express Pipeline will participate in a press conference tomorrow, Thursday, August 7, 2008 at 4pm.
Rep. John
Boehner (R-West Chester), will be joined with City of Monroe Mayor Robert Routson, Vice Mayor
Steven Tannreuther, City Council members Anna Hale, Bob Kelley, Tracy Shell,
Monroe City Manager William Brock, and Rockies Express Government & Community
Relations Manager Allen Fore.
Mayor Routsen and Rep. Boehner plan a formal
announcement of an agreement between the City of Monroe and Rockies Express
Pipeline - East (REX) for REX to install a fire hydrant near the REX natural gas
pipeline compressor station south of Greentree Road near I-75.
There has been a discussion regarding the pipeline safety. Rep. Boenhere sent a letter, Monroe REX Pipeline Safety a concern. REX is not required by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission to install a fire hydrant near its compressor station, but the City of Monroe and Rep. John Boehner want REX to run additional water lines for a fire hydrant.
