| Monroe is a prime location between two metropolitan areas. It has available land, booming economy, expanding schools and accessible roads. All of this leads to the area‘s reputation as one of the hottest development spots in the Tri-state. Some of the projects planned and being considered:
The Taubman Co. a Bloomfield Hills, Michigan development
company announced plans for a 340-store shopping mall in Monroe that
would employ 13,000 people and require a new interchange off Interstate
75 in Warren County.
$22.4 million interchange at Kyles Station Road.
$19.3 million upgrade and expansion of a portion of Ohio 63.
Norwood developer Joe Farruggia wants to build Villas of
Heritage Green, the 180-unit condominium development for "empty-nesters"
with prices starting at about $90,000.
Duke-Weeks Realty Corp. of Indianapolis has acquired an
84-acre project on primarily undeveloped land situated near the
intersection of Ohio Route 63 and Interstate 75 in Monroe, on land
previously owned by NCR Corp. of Dayton.

Monroe Mayor Elbert Tannreuther‘s comment on all of the explosive growth:
"It‘s like a big runaway train. You can stand out in front of it yelling, We don‘t want this,‘ and it will just run you down. Or you can throw the switches and control that train,"
Monroe is growing and Mayor Tannreuther is not standing in the way, he has a firm grip on those switches.
