This years rate increase of 42 cents per 1000 gallons will help fund nearly $400k in water plant upgrades. An Additional aeration detention tank and 2 additional storage bays will be constructed to help accommodate Monroe's growing population and industrial customer base.
The new tank will allow repairs to be made on the original 30 year old tank. Bill Brock, City Engineer said, "The upgrades will help improve the quality of the water we are providing to our customers."
Tanks used in water treatment are used to filter iron out of the water, helping provide a clear, non-rust hue to the water. |
