Last night Monroe parents and students gathered at the Monroe High School auditorium to meet the new men’s soccer and lady’s basketball coaches. Coach Michael Oster (men’s soccer) and Coach Krista Doan (lady’s basketball) told MainStreetMonroe.com that they are very excited to be in the City of Monroe and are excited to work in such a tight knit community.
Coach Oster played for three years at Malone College. Malone is a NAIA Division I soccer University. He was the head coach at Hamilton High School for three years and the assistant for two years. In his first year at Hamilton (2006), the team won more regular season games, scored more goals, and allowed fewer goals than any other Hamilton team had in 10 years prior to his arrival. Outside of soccer Coach Oster is the Chief of the Appellate Division of Butler County Prosecutor Robin Piper’s Office. “I love to win, but there are bigger things in life. Like giving back to the community” he said.
Coach Doan was the assistant coach for Middletown High School lady’s varsity for one year and left to be the head coach here in Monroe. Before that she coached Fairfield girl’s varsity for two years and at Talawanda for one year. In an interview with MainStreetMonroe.com Coach Doan said, “The opportunity is here for Monroe, It’s about commitment.”
