The students at Monroe Elementary School are having a few special guests during their last days of school. On Friday, May 15, Shelley Pearsall visited the school and on May 19th, Margaret Peterson Haddix will visit students in fourth, fifth, and sixth grades. Both are popular children's authors and Ohio natives.
According to the Monroe Local Schools website, Pearsall spoke with fifth grade students and answered questions about her book Trouble Don't Last, which the students read during their study of the Underground Railroad. Students also learned about historical fiction writing and were allowed to do their own character sketch.
Haddix, a best-selling author, will speak to students and autograph books afterwards. Her latest book is Palace of Mirrors and her new book Sent will be published in August. A limited number of her books are available for sale in the Monroe Elementary School media center.
