A new Richard's Pizza opened in Monroe last month. Current growth and Monroe's sense of community helped co-owners Karen Underwood Kramer and Gayl Underwood Hoelle decide on the city for the new location. Kramer told the Middletown Journal, "People know each other and they live here for a long time and they’re loyal to their community, and their loyal to their community businesses and everything. We want to be a part of the community.”
Kramer and Hoelle's father, Richard Underwood, opened the first Richard's Pizza in Hamilton in 1955 and since then, a second location in Hamilton along with restaurants in Trenton and Fairfield have been built. The restaurants serve not just pizza, but their award-winning steak sandwiches, spaghetti dinners, and fudge, as well.
The Monroe location of Richard's Pizza is located at 20. S. American Way. Their hours are 11:00 AM through 10:00 PM Sunday through Thursday and 11:00 AM to 11:00 PM on Friday and Saturday.
