Join the City of Monroe as we pay tribute to those who serve and protect our Country. The Monroe annual Memorial Day Service will be held at the new Veterans Memorial Park on the corner of State Route 63 and South Main Street on Monday, May 25, 2009 at 2:00pm.
All citizens are welcome and encouraged to join in as we celebrate the day. The guest speaker for this year's services will be Boyd Smith. Welcome and introduction by Mayor Robert Routson. National Anthem, Taps and Echo, and Musical Selections by Soloist, Corinne Minor and the Monroe Marching Band directed by Lori Badgett. Invocation and Benediction by Father Terry Meehan from Our Lady of Sorrows Church.
Roll Call of Veterans by Monroe City Council, Monroe City Manager, and Lemon Township Trustees. Raising of the American Flag, Laying of the Wreath and 21 Gun Salute by the American Legion Post 218.
