Listen for the bagpipes on May 5, 2003 near Brown’s Run Golf Course. The pipers will signal the beginning and the end of a Scottish golf tournament. Since golf is an important sport in Scotland, the 2003 featured Middfest country, a golf tournament is a natural fund-raiser for the educational and festive components of Middfest 2003.
The Middfest International Golf Tournament will be held at the Browns Run Country Club near Middletown on May 5 (rain date May12). The event will begin with lunch at 11:30 followed by a shotgun start at 1 pm. There will be a St. Andrews Scramble Division, a four person scramble with no handicaps. Another division is the Carnoustie, two best ball division with four person teams using two best balls for score with handicap.
Entry fee is $125 per person which includes golf, cart, driving range balls, lunch, and after-golf hors d’oeuvres.
Major sponsors include Miller Brewing Company and Score Chrysler-Plymouth-Dodge dealer, sponsor of the hole-in-one contest. Other sponsors are being sought to help defray the expenses of the event and support Middfest activities.
Besides the golf, there will be a contest to select the best dressed golfers wearing traditional and Scottish golf attire.
Middfest International is a 3-day festive event held in downtown Middletown each fall featuring the art, music dance, culture, history, science, food, religion, education, literature, film, sport, business and life styles of a country or group of countries.
