Monroe Men’s Soccer Team Plays in Lakota-Moeller Super Scrimmage
Monroe High School’s Men’s Soccer team tested their skills against some perennial Division I heavyweights in a super-scrimmage at Moeller High School Saturday and Sunday, July 25-26.
Saturday morning the Hornets opened the weekend against Lakota East. The game was suspended shortly before halftime due to lightning. The only score in the first half was a penalty kick by the Thunderhawks. The second half of the game was played on Sunday evening and the final score was 1-0 Lakota East.
Monroe faced host team Moeller on Saturday evening. The final score was 3-1 Moeller with Monroe’s only score by Nick Braden, assist from Jake Essig.
On Sunday afternoon, while still trying to learn the ropes of a new defensive scheme, the Lakota West Firebirds exposed multiple holes in the Hornets' defense in route to a 4-0 victory.
Goalkeeper duties were shared in all scrimmages by Patrick MacIntosh and Chase Collins.
The Hornets are coached by Michael Oster and Tim Ross.
