The Monroe Lending Library had a very successful summer with 2 free events for children. June featured a reading contest, winners were 1st Place tie Rajver Singh and Jasdeep Sing, 2nd place Lauren Lovelace, 3rd place Tess Sanker. Prizes included Library Reading Rocks T-Shirt and membership renewal
The Library received a Summertime Kids Grant from the Greater Cincinnati Foundation. The theme this year was “A is for Artist featuring four artist Dale Chihuly, Jackson Pollock, Laura Nevelson and Charley Harper. The children learned about each of the artist and their style of work. In turn the children created their own work in the the style of the artist. This event culmated in the judging of the art by age groups. Judges were Bill and Ellen Kinsey and Dave Chesar.

All children received an “A is for Artist” Tee Shirt, certification of participation. The winners received art related supplies for their age group. Children and parents enjoyed a picnic featuring pizza, icecream and drinks.
