City Council named Jay Stewart to replace Dave Collins as the City Finance Director. Mr. Stewart, already Director of Development, will operate in dual rolls for the city.
As Director of Development, it is Mr. Stewarts job to attract new industrial and commercial businesses to Monroe.
As City Finance Director, he will be responsible for the finances of the city. It will be his job to ensure the city lives within its financial means and to keep the budget in balance.
Currently, Monroe has a $650,000 budget deficit. Thru cost cutting and a reduction in the income tax credit for residence, the budget looks to be in balance for 2004. |
