Monroe Local Schools Board of Education Scholarship “President’s Award”

Mission Statement To honor and recognize the accomplishments of a student or students and to provide funds to assist them in achieving future success through education.
Purpose The President’s Award honors a Monroe High School graduating senior(s) who has shown outstanding character and leadership while attending school. The student(s) has effectively used his or her time and skills to benefit the community and school. A scholarship in the amount of $500 will be awarded to assist with future educational expenses, and an honorary plaque will be displayed in the main street lobby of the high school.
Eligibility To be eligible, a nominee must meet the following criteria: • MLS district Senior who attends Monroe High school, Greentree Academy, or Butler Tech • Minimum GPA of 2.75 • Desire to continue education after high school The applicant must be nominated by another individual who feels the applicant’s strength of character and leadership are an inspiration. While academic standards are required, equal weight will be given to community involvement, personal accomplishments, and employment history if applicable.
Award Selection The current Monroe Local School Board of Education members will review the nominations and select one student to receive the scholarship per year. All required information requested must be received by the board prior to the stated deadline to be considered for the award. In the event that no qualified nominations are received, the board can, at its discretion, either nominate a student on their own, or choose not to award the scholarship. If no award is given, the funds will roll over and be used for future awards. The board may request additional information at any time in order to make a final selection.

Nominations must be received by April 15th to be considered. No exceptions will be made.
