Monroe Elementary is gearing up for the 2003-04 school year. Flowers are planted, class lists and supply lists are posted on the front door, floors are waxed and teachers are getting their rooms ready. Kindergarten enrollment is up 35 percent from 92 student to 124 so classes will be a little bit larger this year but hopefully once the new school opens, they will be downsized again when there is space for more classes. The total elementary population has increased by approximately 100 students or 14% to 780. In addition to the modular classrooms, two classrooms have been built on the stage to accommodate the extra students.
