Council unamiously approved not requiring a hearing regarding the transfer of the State of Ohio Liquor License to Monroe Krogers. This will essentially fast track the process of making Monroe Krogers the newest and only State Store in Monroe.
Finke's Monroe IGA will be completely out of business once the liquor license to be a State Store is transfered to Krogers in Monroe. Finke's was struggling since it closed the Monroe IGA and converted to a party store. A Monroe resident had this to say about the Party/ Liquor Store, "When they said Party Store - I thought they would have decorations, cake or drink candles, cards, alcohol, mixers, juices, sodas, party snack foods like chips, dips, assorted candies, ice, charcoal, propane tanks, lottery, etc...I really think if it had been that type of store - they would have been more successful. Nothing in our area like it - not Middletown,Liberty Twp, TurtleCreek, etc.. just a shame! Really wish they could have made it."
