Included in the debate are candidates for Council, School board and Lemon Township Trustees. Missing from the debate was Current school board president, Mike Lane, who was unable to attend due to work restrictions and Lemon Township Fiscal Officer candidate Jacob A. Routson. No reason was given for his non-attendence.

The State Route 63 Extension evolved from the Trenton Bypass project, originally planned by the Ohio Department of Transportation in the early 1980s. The Butler County Engineer's Office picked up the project in the 1990s and through various studies determined that an extension of SR 63 from SR 4 west through the area just south of Trenton made better sense given Butler County's population growth and changing transportation patterns. The new route would also provide better opportunities for economic development.

This project lives on as the "Pioneer Parkway" and is under development by the Butler County Transportation Improvement District (TID).

Mayor Routson and Councilman Hickman voted for a piece of legislation which would help with the proposed extension. The rest of council voted against the extension.

Tom Leeds and Tom Birdwell debate for the Monroe School Board Position. Current Board President and candidate Mike Lane was unable to attend this debate. If you haven't watched this debate yet, you might consider it. Both candidates did a good job. The big question is which one will help us get out of financial trouble better?
