Since early last fall, rumors have been swirling around Chief Neu retiring. I asked the Chief on October 11, 2011 if the rumors were true, his answer was,  "I'll retire when I'm ready to retire." He went on to say that if the city made him an offer he couldn't refuse, he would take it. But the city has not made an offer, nor has the chief said he will be retiring.

Last night, Chief Neu announced that he was retiring. "I have been working with the city of Monroe, this is my 34th year now, and I have been serving the citizens of Monroe for 44 years. I turn 62 in May and my intent at this time is to retire on May 31st of this year," he said.
