This Christmas Eve will be a memorable one for Butler County deputy David Runnells and a Trenton woman. Runnells was responding to an emergency call from a Speedway gas station for a woman going into labor.
Upon arrival Runnells found Heather Fitzgerald in the backseat of her Ford Fusion. She had already gone into labor.
With no time to make it to the hospital, Fitzgerald pulled into the Speedway parking lot at 4am and dialed 911. Luckily for her, Runnells was able to help the mother-to-be. Runnells was able to deliver Fitzgerald’s baby girl as they waited for an ambulance.
According to the sheriff’s department, the mother and daughter are doing well after being taken to nearby Fort Hamilton Hospital.
