| March 8, 2000 - Middletown Administrative Building GATE, Central Academy and Garfield Alternative Ed will not be available to Monroe Students according to the Middletown School Transition Team.
The Middletown School Transition Team made clear today that the policy of "No Open Enrollment" will continue to be the policy in reference to the GATE, Central Academy and Garfield Alt Ed. When asked to clarify the Boards position on this policy, Dr. Mark Frazer stated that "the open enrollment programs have waiting lists to get in. The people currently on the lists who reside in Middletown or Madison would be chosen first before being offered to other schools." (Including Monroe)
"If your child is a resident of Monroe and is currently enrolled in GATE, Central Academy or Garfield Alt. Ed you will need to look to the Monroe School Board for solutions. The new school district will receive funds for the GATE program. How those funds are will be up to the (Monroe) Board
