Monroe Elementary second graders were pleasantly surprised when the Cat and the Hat and the Grinch arrived at their school Friday morning, not to cause trouble but to give away prizes! The Monroe Post Office, in order to promote new stamps commemorating the 100th anniversary of Dr. Seuss' birth, sponsored an art contest for second graders, who were asked to design a stamp picturing Seuss characters. Winners were awarded prize bags and runners up received rubber balls with the Cat in the Hat's picture on them. Congratulations to all of the winners!!! |
