Monroe Planning Commission approved the site plan for a proposed Arby's restaurant at their meeting on Wednesday night. The Arby's would be built in the Corridor 75 Park in-between the existing Burger King and Gold Star Chili establishments. Construction is slated to begin this year.
Also on Wednesday evening, the Planning Commission denied the PUD rezone application by Dixon Homes for a proposed subdivision that would bring 175 single family homes and 84 multi-family units on a 126 acre parcel at the NW corner of Kyles Station Rd. and Butler Warren Road. In denying the project, the Planning Commission pointed to the rezone proposals' disregard for the Comprehensive Plan designation that this area be zoned industrial and commercial in the future. The Commission also noted that this plan did not fit within the City's growth policy and would likely create additional financial burden for the City in the coming years.
