"The purpose of the tax budget is to submit to the county budget commission what we understand to be as the mills and the values of the district. This district is supported by over 2/3 by local tax money. So it's important that we estimate what we will receive from the community through our levies." Holly Cahall, Monroe Schools Treasurer
"We do have to show our expenses and part of the reason is to show the auditor that we do need our tax money. And that was very easy to do." Treasurer Cahall
The tax budget reports revenue and expenses for the General Fund, Bond Retirement Fund and the Permanent Improvement Fund which are the only funds supported by local tax revenue. Below is the report as submitted by the treasurer to the board for approval. The board unanimously approved the budget for submission to the county.
Treasurer Cahall goes on to request a board finance subcommittee that would meet no less than four times per year but would probably meet more often. The subcommittee meetings would be open to the community and would be publicized.
